SOCO WALK OVERHEAD UTILITIES AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON TRANSFORMERS
Due to the unexpectedly high cost of undergrounding the overhead
distribution lines at "SOCO Walk", and after considering the limited
aesthetic improvement it provides, applicant is requesting that Council
consider alternate off-site improvements that could provide a more immediate
community benefit.
Recommendation by the Community Development Department:
Adopt Resolution No. 9952 amending the conditions of approval for Major
Development Project ZON03-00071, requiring off-site improvements that include
undergrounding of overhead utility lines in the public alley, reconstructing
the public alley relocating seven transformers, constructing improvements on
the north and east sides of the SCE substation that include landscaping,
sidewalks and screening, and the repair and resurfacing of pavement on Truslow
Avenue, Walnut Avenue and Walnut Way, in lieu of undergrounding existing high
voltage distribution lines that traverse the site.
